Yeah that must be in there for sure, also got the suggestion that hooking the HAL lense led up to the power or SSD led would be cool!

Oh man, I've wanted to make a mod with that name for ages Looks like this project will definitely be worthy of the name though! The renders look amazing, and the work so far is flawless

 

Hahaha, yeah I really liked that name also! Sorry we got it earlier.
First time I really got into the 3d with all the lighting and stuff, I used Rhino 3D with the standard render engine.
The work on the case itself is actually going faster then expected, I guess preperation is the key when working with ALU.

Thanks for the great idea! I'm looking for a logitech MX1000 or something in that range.
So we can "cut" the Aries 1b in half, and use the bottom part as a charger, and the top we will use as the actual mouse.

It looks awesome so far, but I'm not a fan of the tear window. It seems really out of place with the sterile look of the movie hardware.

I think I've seen 2001 about forty or so times. It's been one of my favorites since it was released even though I didn't fully understand the themes when I was very young. The first drawings of yours look great and match the theme very well. The later pics with the covers and text and torn windows just head off in another direction altogether. The interior looks so good that just a clear side panel is needed. Only my 2 cents. I'll still be following.

 

Thanks! I do agree , the first time i saw the movie I thought, why is that dude getting older and now he's a baby? Looks great but what the hell? As I got older and saw the movie sometimes with a couple of years in between, it just kept on giving new layers of understanding .. Ah so he's reborn into his stellar form ... I think that's a indication of a great movie that everytime you watch it, it brings you something new!

About the "hood"
Thanks for the comments, all your input is greatly appreciated as you are amongst my modding heroes! I think the mayor issue is the balance between movie vs case and interior vs exterior?

Without the hood, it will be exactly as you describe, black monolithic and with a large thin plexiglass window covering the visible interior. This is for making sure there is quality airflow when the hood is off.
The tears in the case is something we added and once Nixjuh has upped the pictures of the 3D element we have made, it will make more sense (hopefully, lol) This will be somewhere today.

The brainstorming we had went into the direction of: Knowing the destructive nature of man (and in the movie they did poke it, laser it, try to open it)
What would be left of the future of humankind if they did succeed in breaking it ...

This will also be our on/off button ...

 

Sheesh and i thought for my inner geek you couldnt top the Eurisko so fast...man was i wrong. Alone the design you two made makes the inner geek cry out in joy

This is the first large tool that I got for modding and its payed off big time!
Slowly I am building my workshop, this year I am getting a drill-press for my B-day !

However, I have a drill press . It makes precision drilling and countersinking EASY.

I don't want to sound like a parrot, but I have to agree with Cheaps and Attilla. I think you have too much going on on the outside of the case. The interior look is sheer brilliance though - I wouldn't change a thing!
