CS:S server problem

We are going to have to run the server totally clean for a couple of days to try and get to the bottom of these random mapcycle restarts. There will be no plugins or scripts running at all, although admin can use rcon to keep things in order.

Can you post here times and scenarios of any mapcycle or server restarts.

Would have posted this earlier but the interwebs fell on it's arse. Getting regular lag spikes from the server, small but for around 0.5 seconds. First I thought it was me but we've all been suffering.

 

Is this in general or specifically since I removed all plugins and scripts on Wednesday?

 

well when i was on there with everyone i was getting lag then every else said they we getting it, there seemed to be a drop in the tick rate output from the server , is the cpu spiking?

 

If you are talking about Wednesday evening, then that was probably caused when Steam threw a major strop, it went on for hours, or was that Thursday? One or the other. Server CPU loads looks normal.

The thing we are trying to see, is if the server does the weird mapcycle restart thing that it has been doing lately, with all plugins and scripts off. Typical that steam decides to mess around and dish out these stupid present updates when we are trying to fault find.

 

The night everyone had lag was when steam was playing up. Certainly was the case for me anyway.

 

After the removal, it has stopped now or at least I don't notice it as much.

 

Yes that seems to be the case. I will start adding the plugins one by one over next few days and see what it does.

 

Just a quick question, is anyone getting fairly regular spikes on the server. Roughly once every couple of mins or so. Nothing major but it can get a bit distracting.

Strange one tonight, about half a dozen players with same problem as Dave. Dieharder, matt, indi..all had a ping around 180ish which could not be resolved. Baffled!
