Hi guys, I'm looking for a decent driving simulator/game for Windows, I want proper world tracks and particularly SPA Francorchamps and Nurburgring ideally but not vital.

Basically anything life-like as possible, what's out there?

there's a reason we ignore feathers.

there's numerous out there that can cater to your needs. physics modelling is subjective to whoever modelled it so theres no such thing as a real life like experience, there's **** tonnes of info over at NOGRIPRACING.COM as to what different games offer but if you want an fairly accurate track racing experience then Shift 2 (modded with UCP1.06) will more then suffice and has a lot of real tracks and a good selection of cars not to mention some of the best visuals/audio around and the added awesome of Night Racing :thumb:

blatant copy pasta, ignore the DLC tags, we got all that for free.

You would probably be best going with one of the more moddable games tbh. One of the GTR series or rfactor spring to mind, if you can live without bleeding edge graphics .

I downloaded a 2011 gt mod for GTR EVO over the weekend and I'm finding it awesome, you should be able to find all the real world tracks you want, ive currently got numerous versions of the nurburgring but only have the 03/04 version of spa. I'm sure the more recent and historical versions shouldn't be too hard to find though.

As gunsmiths has said, the realism varies quite alot between games so it mite take some trial and error to find one you really like.

I always enjoyed the VRGT mod for Viper Racing. It's a fairly old game but has a good selection of tracks, and gt and f1 cars. Haven't played it in awhile, but I remember really liking the car physics.

Race 07, NetKarPro (being the more realistic of racers, lots of fun, but no AI, humans only or time trial), Richard burns rally is the best rally game.

RB Rally is the one I got into most back when it was released.

Gand Prix Legends, although I've not actually done a whole lap yet :hehe:

Oooo Shift 2 just got interesting for me after I glimpsed the Superlight R500, normally road cars don't excite me, but, well the R500 isn't yer average matchine. Ahh, Delta HF.

To say something meaningful I'm waiting for (what I have high expectations of) three games on the not too distant horizon, rFactor 2, GTR3 and KartSim. The marketers for GTR3 know how to push my buttons, uh the wailing, I'm going to listen to that again!

Race07 is a nice game for a variety of racing cars.

Still enjoy GTI Legends, although it's a pain to get working in 64-bit.

GTR 2 is also good - especially when missed.

Should have been GT Legends! Not Gti Legends (poxy auto correct on phone!!!)

Ah thanks everyone for the heads up on game titles, will do a bit of Googling around on the names and see what info I can find out. I've just got myself a Logitech G25 set which is my first PC steering wheel (I do have the official Xbox 360 wheel on Forza 3 & 4 but its not that good)

I wanted something more of a simulator on the PC where I can play upstairs in my office out the way and let the Mrs have the TV lol
Anyway will look into the titles you have listed, im not after cutting edge graphics just good game play with real world tracks, I mention SPA and Nurburgring as im off there at the end of May in my track prepped Evo and want to get some practice in, especially on SPA as done Nurburgring loads of times on Forza :)

Cheers again for the suggestions :thumb:

Are you using a retail dvd version of the game? I have the download version from raceroom.net and its works perfectly in 64bit Win7. If you are using the dvd you can get a free digital copy if you show them a photo your dvd key and case.
