    Epic's ROG Build for SGL!

I was approached to do an ROG build which is, as always. Awesome.

Challenge accepted and after some further discussion I was told that the case needed to be made from scratch and ready for the SGL (Sydney Gaming League Event) in just two weeks.

Deadlines are cool, if not sometimes impossible but the client was keen and I guess I didn't need sleep anyhow.

The design phase took just over a week and that left me around about 5 days to get the whole thing cut, polished and flat packed onto a courier.

This was the center piece. A large res with the ROG logo front and center.

I was rushing a fair bit so if that leap to completion was a bit unexpected then I do apologise. To explain the setup though, this piece sits atop a bar fridge with radiators inside. The entire motherboard has been laquered so the condensation can just drip off it.

No detail was spared and certainly no temperature sensors were either. There are no less than 6 read out LCD's going into the build.

I made dogtags for the event too :)

Can't wait to see what the backplate looks like with red liquid flowing down it!

Setting aside the awesomeness of the build itself... I truly hope your client used some sort of industrial strength fridge for this; regular refrigerators are designed to remove a static heat load... That is; they cool your food/drinks and that's it, but that computer is constantly putting out heat and that will overload a regular fridge in no time.

On load it wasn't an issue, he got the chipset down to 4 degrees. There's laquer all over the motherboard and the condensation just drips everywhere apparently :)

It goes on show at SGL tomorrow, I won't be there but I'm betting a ton of people will take photos. Hopefully those photos make their way back to me :)

I'm not sure I like the idea. Gaming would be bad for wine, and beer replenishment would affect temps.

i still dont see that fridge lasting long. like xXSebaSXx said, they arent meant for continuous duty cycles. itll last for a while but eventually the compressor is going to crap out. still, build looks neat!

That fridge is a goner. What's worse, it will become a hot insulated box, eventually tripping thermal alarms on the hardware. Sad way for hardware to die. Overheating while liquid cooled.
