Metro is a good game to test, but really your res is holding the 580 back on most games even at 1080p the card is super quick : D

27" but only 1080p?? Dot pitch must be massive. Is that a wise choice?

I'd hate to be in a position where I had <£200 for a display. 23" will be a good upgrade from your 19" but with a 580 it'd be really nice to stretch it over a bigger resolution than crumby 1080p. Even so, I've had a "big dot pitch" display before and they are still very imersive even though the actual panel quality isn't as good as IPS monitors.

What's the priority? Size, or quality? If size.. then go ahead with your 1080P 27", but because you're just taking the same resolution of most 23" screens... and just making it bigger, then the dots get bigger... so one could say, just sit closer to your 23"... :)

1080P will not even make your 580 break a sweat for most games.

I'd get the cheapest 1080P screen you can get for now... and then save for a 27" with a proper resolution for that size, like the U2710. SOme cheap used examples of the bay of e lately.

Or you could try to find a second hand Sony GDM-FW900. They're beautiful, and highly saught after. That'll do better than 1080P, and have less lag than all than the best TFTs on the market :thumb:

That will stress your 580 in exactly the same way as your current monitor.

    Is his current screen 1080P?
If so, absolutely. The video card only cares about resolution, not how bit it is. Your GPU can't tell the different between a 10"1080P screen or one five miles across... it only sees a 1080P display. Performance will be identical.
