Hey, sorry guys, been pretty busy lately. Pretty strange that you have both had crashes with this pack, did you both use the installer or do it manually? I didn't really use the installer to get the cars i copied over the files manually and haven't had one crash yet. I would suggest trying it that way but failing that I wouldn't have a clue why it's crashing. Might be useful to do a clean reinstall of the whole thing. and @bdigital this is the texture pack i use, it was recommended by a friend, I haven't really tried many others so if you come across an awesome one I'm all ears
Hey thanks for the reply - I appreciate your help. I managed to sort the crash problem (i think, played for about 1 hour with no issues the other night). I think it was MSI afterburner causing it. So i switched that off and touch wood all has been well. I will try the new texture pack this week and report back! thanks again
Well i tried the textture pack you used. Having some issues though! When i extract the RAR file i get the following errors Which means that when i run the game there are some areas with no textures! I end up driving into a never ending abyss. Quite funny the first time, but after that its not lol Maybe you could manually pass these over to me? Im guessing that would work? Fingers crossed!!
Weird man, I have the files on my pc, I can try and send them over to you somehow. What do you suggest?
I can email you the files that are missing in the above picture they aren't too big just pm over your address, or I will upload the whole thing somewhere.
Going to have to do it through dropbox, Sharing is real easy, just taking me a while to upload the files, have pm'd you
Downloading now - Il get them installed this evening and hopefully that will sort out the issues! I noticed in the readme for these textures it mentions some other mods that the author uses. Not heard of them myself but might check them out.
How about a little manners in your first forum post? Some punctuation and proper use of capital letters would be helpful too.
I'm interested to know this also. I just recently finished GTAIV and the game performance was shoddy at best. If my machine (1GB 6770, 4GB RAM, E5200@3.75GHz) can handle games like Skyrim & ME3 on high detail settings at 1080p, it should be able to handle a several year old game. GTAIV is the only game that runs badly on my PC.
Im afriad i dont know about the performance question because i went straight to Icehancer on my PC version, i never played it without the mod. Speaking of which, my random crash is back Even with MSI closed. So it must be something to do with the car pack as you guys mentioned. The textures worked thank you coffee - Just need to roll back the car pack and do it manually (however you do that!)
Graphics Performance & Benchmarks Well, I can say pretty much definitively that it does have a performance hit; I've been doing some benchmarks using the in-built tool with the various different graphics options. PC Spec: MSI GA-G31M-ES2L v2 E5200 @ 3.75GHz 4GB DDR2 800MHz Radeon HD6770 I started with running a benchmark with vanilla GTAIV - no mods - then benchmarked each of the optional graphics options: FXAA or SMAA, "I'm afraid of overheating" and "Only if it's lagging too much". I didn't realise until afterwards that Icenhancer bumped up the standard graphics settings, so I had to delete and re-download GTAIV again in order to run another benchmark with graphics settings that more closely matched Icenhancer. I know it's not exactly the most powerful or modern machine, but it should at least give some indication as to what difference (if any) the various options make. Benchmark Runs: No mods installed, standard "auto configure" graphics settings used No mods installed, graphics settings set to match Incenhancer as best as possible Icenhancer, FXAA option Icenhancer, SMAA option Icenhancer, FXAA option with "I'm afraid of overheating" Icenhancer, SMAA option with "I'm afraid of overheating" Icenhancer, "Only if it's lagging too much" - Mid End Icenhancer, "Only if it's lagging too much" - Low End Icenhancer, "I'm afraid of overheating" with "Only if it's lagging too much" - Mid End Icenhancer, "I'm afraid of overheating" with "Only if it's lagging too much" - Low End Graphics Settings: The resolution was set to the native panel resolution for my monitor, 1680x1050, with the following variations. Thumbnails are clickable for full version. Benchmark Run 1: Benchmark Run 2: Benchmark Runs 3-10: Results: I think graphs are better for this, don't you? All: FPS Only: CPU & Video/System Memory Usage Only:
Hey good work there +rep BLC. Looking at the last graph I see that the CPU usage is highest without any mods at all, my question is why does this drop with the mods installed, and surely if the CPU usage was greater the fps would be higher?
Oooh, hmm...in light of that, I might have to install it, given that my CPU is majorly my bottleneck for this game.
I would have thought the same with my PC too, but even though the CPU usage goes down with Icenhancer the FPS drops through the floor...
