Yeah I was gutted when the machine milled through the bottom of it, after it almost finished, but I do quite like the new simplicity look of just a CPU and GPU block, I think it looks neater than having blocks everywhere.

    Yep :)

    :worried: lol

Thanks CraigWatson :thumb:, do you mean so that the 24pin wires come straight along the motherboard tray from underneath the motherboard, then after a bit of distance they then curve round into the motherboard connector? I'm gonna add a cover for the sata wires/pcie wires but I haven't decided how it will look yet, the edges of the alu are very smooth if you are thinking they could cut into the wire?

Apologies, I meant the ATX cable from the PSU that's routed through a dedicated hole in the board tray (black with mesh sleeving).

Neoprene/edging would just look better/cleaner/more professional IMO, just personal preference :)

Ah, that one has an alu ring around which is glued in place now, do you mean replace the alu one with a neoprene ring?

Finally got another update for you all :), and this one will be the second to last update of parts being made with one update after that being final eye candy as well as the collection of my favorite images of stages from throughout the build.

I decided to ditch the idea of using lexan for the rad cover, and instead opted for fiberglass, the downside being it takes ages to sand it down smooth but it was worth it to get the shape I wanted.

So to begin I first made a mold by going across some glued together sheets of plywood with a ball end mill on the bridgeport, I then used a sander to smooth out the shape, then finally I stuck the backing of double sided sticky tape onto the mold to make it non stick for the fiberglass:

I then milled out some clear acrylic pieces for the little windows:

I then used fiberglass cloth with resin to create a form over the mold and to secure the acrylic windows:

The black bits are from the bin bag I had it sitting on:

You get a slightly transparent look:

I then chopped the ends of some releasable cable ties:

I then sanded the alu panel I made earlier and polished it:

I then JB welded the alu onto the fiberglass and milled out a thin section of the fiberglass on each corner:

And the cable ties will sit in like so and be JB welded in place:

each cable tie slots into a hole in the side panel in order to fasten the rad cover in place. I have completed the cover but those pics count as eye candy for the final update :) I have also almsot completed the new CD/DVD/HDD cover panels which will be in the final making parts update.

yeah lol, I used two packs gluing the top of the case on and gluing the front parts together lol, there only about £7 each though :)

Thanks Waynio :thumb:, lol, I'm gonna try set up some sort of photo booth with those daylight bulbs for the final shots, so they should be the best quality pics I've done on the whole project.

Thanks stonedsurd & Sarakon, took a while for me to think of using them, I was thinking a magnets first but the cable tie idea is much stronger, as they're glued and the ridges give the JB weld more grip to keep them in place :)

I've decided to skip the last making update as the CD/DVD/HDD covers were made in the same way as the psu cover.

So here it is the last update, with eye candy for all after almost 2 years of work. First off is a brief collection of the pics from the stages of the build:

And finally the finished pics, All those looking for high res pics, you need to click on the zoom links then click the magnifier at the top right of the pic, then if you want to download it just use the download button on the left, as the zoom feature uses flash so you can't right click and save it:
