    This....

    - Arduino UNO R3 + 16x2 LCD + assorted jumpers, resistors, potentiometers, etc...

The plan is to have the Arduino control fan speeds via PWM, control some RGB leds and also take data from the motherboard via serial interface (USB) and output temperatures, rpms, etc.

The PWM part for the fans and leds is easy as the unit is perfectly capable of sending out PWM signal on its own; all it needs is to be given a duty cycle and off she goes. :D

The RPM readouts part is giving some issues. I can read the tach wire on the fan and convert that to an RPM readout, but the fans I'm using (6K rpm beasties) are making the readouts jump at certain points. I have to figure out a way of cleaning the signal from teh tach wire so I get consistent readings.

The temperature readouts straight from the motherboard are going to be another issue... I know I could get all this done with LCD Smartie and that it would take me minutes, but where is the fun in that?

There was a 3 day deal that logitech had on, if you had bought from the site before. I'm kinda kicking myself for not ordering more TBH. I'm really lucky it came up at a time when I was looking for a new headset, it should really kick the 4 quid set I've been using into the ground.

I just bought a box... So I can ship my dead F3 back for RMA.

Seems a waste of money but a heck of a lot cheaper than buying a new HDD if they void the RMA/Warranty due to shoddy packing. Also I will get a box back when they send a new HDD, so... that's good I guess :hehe:

I am genuinely interested to see how they will ship me a box, I hope it's in another box just slightly bigger.

I would have thought that normally, but it includes all the foam inserts which fit snugly inside the box.

Either way I will just be glad to get my HDD back. I am going to buy another HDD at the start of next month as well for backups internally. One can never have too much storage/backup, Says the man who recently sold a HP Microserver with 2x 1.5tb drives because I wasn't using it...doh!

Just been staring at my current electrical socket situation in my bedroom; I have 13 appliances, and only 4 sockets ( 2x 2 gang outlets ). Having to run numerous socket doublers & extensions is a mess, so I bought a 2 gang > 4 gang socket adaptor ( swap faceplates and you get 4 individually switched sockets instead of just 2 ), and a surface mounted 2 gang outlet which I plan to run from another socket so that I have it where I need it. Also ordered 3 metres of cable trunking so that I don't have 3 or 4 cables & leads running along the carpet on one wall in plain sight.
