Just watched it on youtube. A change in sound I must say. I think I prefer the new style of music (and singer, who can actually sing lol) it's not all super fast mess. The Ultra Beatdown album was getting a bit same old in my opinion. I'm seriously looking forward to the Power Within in a few days.

    What's everyone else think?

They are playing Nottingham Rock City later this year and I have to admit that I am tempted.

seems like the guitar playing has progressed as well. more melody instead of mindless acrobatics to show off skill

Definitely chimmy09, though there was still some showing off lol

And totally agree gunsmith, that song doesn't particularly show off his full range IMO but he does sound bloody good :D

Definitely better than Ultra Beatdown. But that's not saying much.
The new non-ZP vocalist has a more long-term pleasant voice, and the backing vocals add a dimension.
That all being said, I still hate the way Herman Li and Sam Totman jam together, their OTT solos that (quite frankly) sound a bit rubbish to me. Fortunately for them, there's only a bit of that in this song.

A full length album like this is likely to fall into "hammerfall-Hell", though, which cheesy power metal bands (except ManOWar) seemt o fall into reliably...

    Better.

But DF usually only have one good song an album tbh.

this is more toned down than anything they have previously done, but it's still very OTT. I think they never got past the hair metal phase as teenagers.

Look forward to hearing more from them, should be a better then what happened to Nightwish when they changed vocalist...

I will give this a chance, they do tend to have a few good tracks per album.

Sounds like someone has been listening to a lot of Alestorm and Koorpiklaani to me :D

Plus the new singer looks like Chris Jericho  Still, a definite improvement.

Not bad, although I can't stand the constant hair flinging in the video, it's not like it's particularly heavy, so it just annoys me :p

I first started watching this and an idea formed in my head.

    This statement may offend.

    Sonata Arctica do it better.

Hm. They've gone a bit towards Symphony X IMO and that's a fight they are never going to win....

I just can't do modern power metal. Thrash/groove/industrial yes, but not power.
