But I noticed a rattling as I was installing it. Then a small black screw fell out. I watched the DPD man unload it from his van, he did chuck it about a bit (yes i murmured an insult under my breath) so maybe that was why.

Should I be concerned about it? Would you lot send it back?

Here is the screw, next to a guitar pick for size:

My 2nd question is that the card is pretty heavy, and also my power cables are pulling it down a bit (not long enough)

will this cause damage? You can see here, when you look at the straight cooler above it:

Make a prop or use some cable ties to avoid the card being pulled.

If you can't see where it comes from an the card works fine I am not sure I would worry about it but I am pretty relaxed about things like that, whether you should be or not I don't know.

Don't route the cables behind the motherboard tray... sure it won't look as neat but it will take care of the tension that is creating.

I read a review for the ASUS GTX 670 DCII where a screw just underneath the PCI-E power sockets was missing. Remove your cables and have a look there. Could be a slight manufacturing fault! Not very reassuring to observe that on a brand new GPU.

Also, damn! That is a heavy card. My Gigabyte is rigid by comparison, no droop yet.

loosened them up a bit now it is slightly better, I think it is mainly the weight of the card

It is the same screw as this. But no holes on this side of the gpu.. maybe the other side
