hi guys, I have a g510 at the moment and its a great keyboard but I cant type that quick on it. looking of a laptop style keyboard with a short push, 'islands' that separate the keys and preferably backlit. i would prefer wired but in not that fussed. to be honest an apple keyboard would be fine apart from the fact that its a apple keyboard. has anyone seen/used/owned anything fitting this description?? thanks. rob
What you're looking for are called "chiclet" keys. Your best bet is likely going to be searching around online retailers using that term, finding a good review or recommendation will likely be pretty tough. Be prepared to give up on backlighting as well.
i guess its not really a problem, its not backlit nor wired. it is alos white a silver which i dont like. there must be an alternative out there??
Apple sells a wired one FYI The Zippy BL-741 and the Logitech Illuminated keyboards are both wired, black, and use scissor switches. I don't know of one that's also chiclet, though I think you'd be able to find one if you gave up one of your other requirements (wired, black).
yea a mate has the logitech illuminated keyboard and he rates it highly. i have had a go and like it but i am trying to get something closer to my laptop key board. if only i could buy another laptop keyboard and connect it too the desktop...
This maybe? Not backlit, but it has everything else you want. You actually can buy a laptop keyboard and connect it to a laptop! EDIT: Found another you might like, check out the Enermax Aurora
seen a few, none of which are backlit: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Emprex-6310U-Chicle t-Desktop-Keyboard/dp/B002T9U7Y4 http://techcrunch.com/2010/04/15/microsoft-arc-keyboard-vs-the-apple-wireless-keyboard/ http://www.sony.co.uk/product/mouses---keyboards/vgp-bkb1 the emprex would suit my needs and is a reasonable price. I do however have doubts on its longevity... at £10 it might be worth a shot.
Emprex boards are great value for money. I bought an Emprex Cheetah for £12 at one point and it turned out to be an exact replica of the Saitek Cyborg V3 or something, literally a carbon copy with a different logo. And to think the Saitek costs £30 new!
