Yeah it is :D (even though I'm terribly at it :p)

Another shout for the HOMM games, I personally have spent most time playing IV, brilliant game.

SimCity 3k, SimCity4, Pharoah, Caesar. City building games are amazing.

I didn't suggest a genre as I'm up for trying New things. saying that, ill be dusting off civ4 this week. Thanks for the suggestions, will look into tourchlight, sc2 and Diablo 2 for the next trip.

You can't play Star craft 2 offline. (Unless I am mistaken)

    Well, Diablo 3 certainly isn't it. :p

I second a lot of the above recommendations, though. Specifically Torchlight, the Fallout series and Borderlands. Some older games, especially from GOG, might also be a good choice.

Shogun Total War 2. Fallout games. Alan Wake was quite refreshing and different.

Command & Conquer series (until Generals;Zero Hour, don't even look at anything newer)
    Age Of Empires series
    Warcraft 3
    Black & White
The Sims (don't like it myself, but is quite the time waster)

    CS 1.6 / Source
    CoD (Campaigns are OK)
    Max Payne

    DiRT
    Colin McRae

Dungeon Defenders (will take you a while before you can set up defenses on your own, otherwise just kill things)

    As said:
    GTA
    Fallout
    Elder Scrolls (Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim)
    Torchlight

Humble bundles? (not sure if some of them require online)

Any decent Emulator (Gameboy/PS/SNES/etc) for some old school goodness

A civ game would be perfect. Tuen based so you can afford to stop playing/looking at the screen for as long as you need.

I am really in to "Kings Bounty" and "Forged Alliance" at the moment. I am also trying to play Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion but I keep getting distracted.

Skyrim was my first thought but unfortunately it requires Steam.

If you're into old games, what about OpenTTD? It's addictive, and will eat away at the hours!

You can play any game in your Steam library offline. Once the games have been patched and validated you can choose the offline option. If you haven't got the internet connected to your machine at the time it jumps straight to a screen for going offline.

Singleplayer games I play this way include:

    Skyrim
    Rage
    Saints Row the Third
    Deus Ex Human Revolution
    Just Cause 2

All are good games of different genres.

Until STEAM requires you to login again to verify your account. Which can happen more often than you think.

I've played in OFFLINE mode for weeks at a time and never had this happen!
