I've been interested in buying a case to start off making mod's with (I was told its alot better to start with a prebuilt case and THEN make mods to it first, rather than do an all out scratch built case your first time). I had a few case's that I was looking at (Listed below), tell me what you guys think. Also, if you have a better idea/case thats within my budget please give me a link! My budget for the CASE ONLY is somewhere around $45-$60. Some cases I was looking at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811815014 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811345013 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146078 But yea, If anyone would be willing to help me out, that'd be great! Thanks
Would go for the Bitfenix Outlaw, or even up the game and grab a Bitfenix Shinobi. Done a client build in a shinobi and it was sooooo nice!
i'd borrow some used case... ask around and You can get some even for free. and since You gonna mod it some minor defects (scratches etc.) doesn't matter
Been on ebay I got a £130 case for £30 including postage and £100 case for £40 including postage so give it a gander(means look)
find a cheap courier service in your area, in the uk we have parcel monkey that will do near anything next day for about £15 if it says collection only politely ask if you could have a courier collect it. Don't ask you don't get
While I'm a huge fan of Bitfenix cases, I would suggest thinking twice before you grab one. Depending on the mods you are going to be doing, you may find the soft touch finish quite annoying. I'm modding a Shinobi atm, and it took some work to sand off the soft touch surface, and if you intend to keep it, but scratch it in anyway while modding, it will look terrible. Just something to consider. I'm also modding one of their Merc Alpha cases, very cheap case and it doesn't have the soft touch. Not a fan of Xigmatek, I find most of their cases very cheap and flimsy in design, not ideal for modding projects. The NZXT is a nice case and I've considered getting that same case to mod. It's probably the best out of the 3 you have listed.
Thanks for the responses guys, It's been a while since I posted this, and since I currently have a mITX-based setup, I just went with one of CoolerMasters new cases: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119261 Not mod friendly what-so-ever, but I figured I'd be selling the system soon anyway.
