I see these motherboards that come with shrouds over the top, with this I am guessing there poses no problem with heat and such? I have Gigabyte G1. Assassin that I wanted to fabricate a shroud for, and just wanted to know if I should add/point fans to move air underneath. Thanks for any advice... Shawn
I would have thought some air flow will be needed unless you water cool everything. Start over clocking and it will all start to get a bit warm very quickly.
If i can find blocks for my G1. Assassin I was planning on WC everything.... I guess I was concerned about all the other components/capacitors, and such on the board. Thank you for the reply!
What material were you planning on using cos if you use metal might act as a further passive heatsink which may aid your overclock
I was just planning on using acrylic, nothing terribly special, just want to take some of the "busy" of the mobo away from the eyes..
might be worth checking the aluminium route But acrylic could work but I would recommend maybe the fans then
if one want to make smth similar to sabertooth p67 or z77 - one have to make distance between shroud and PCB to avoid interference with SMDs, capacitors, ICs ports etc. for better airflow i'd use smth similar to modern GPU radial fan
Just having some clearance between the board and the shroud should be enough to create air convection: warm air exiting at the top pulling cold air in at the bottom.
Cool idea I like the look of the z77 sabertooth board with the shroud if your woried bout temp you could always mod the motherboard tray and mount a fan on the back to help with airflow.
