I've pledged $40 as has my brother - excellent looking video to tempt me in sold me.
I hope they are as good to their word as they are to this play style /graphics!

I expect they will be, given the developers pedigree!

    Only $18k off $1,000,000 now!

Looks like I am only going to be able to put in $50 to this. Logic kicked in :/ No income, or very sporadic to say the least and chucking €92 at something that I won't get until some time in the latter half of next year might be a bit frivolous :p

Still, I reckon they'll comfortably reach the first stretch goal, but I so very want to see them make it to the 2nd one because I want to see what they can do with gas giants.

Dude, $50 is still very generous! Its £31 in UK money, which is more than we pay for most AAA titles!

    You Sir, should be repped.

Watching the Kickstarter pledge counter is rather mesmerising I have to say! :D I just have it in the corner of my screen the whole time now.

Agreed Parge, I'm putting in €42 for this and will be paying €40 for a series of games in the next couple of weeks. At least I got borderlands 2 for €6.30 :D

The idea of using gas giants is not completely new, it has been done before in games like Sins of a Solar Empire (if I remember correctly) and in things like Space Empires, but not in a more traditional RTS game. If they make it to that, it will be very interesting to see what they do with it.

I hope that they definitely stick with the running trend of the Commander unit being a keystone unit throughout the game. There are very few instances I can recall where losing my commander didn't have a massive effect on both my economy and my production capability. A tier 3 boosted ACU in SupCom was invaluable and I almost always gave him Resource Allocation Upgrade so that he produced more materials in the early phases of the game. It made getting my economy up and running so much easier.

One thing that definitely comes to mind as being pivotal is that of balancing the range of units to whatever factions are there. If you're dealing with a global layout, then you hardly want to have 15 different types of unit to deal with, never mind if you have air and naval units to add to the mix. However, when you're at a smaller scale, have the right units available makes a huge difference. I will be very interested to see how they deal with this.

The procedurally generating worlds will be nice to keep things fresh and having a map generator is also very good, though I do hope that it is not restricted to simply generating maps, rather that it can let you build them as you want.

    $1,00,420!

I predict it will reach the $1,300,00 stretch goal, possibly beyond.

$1,000,000 raised in 16 days.... 14 left to go. It's highly possible that we may well see over 1.5 million raised, or at least I damn well hope so!

Aaaaaand we've hit £1.1m which means WATER PLANETS!

I'm not amazingly excited about gas giants, but metal and lava planets excite the crap outta me.

I want to know what the next stretch goal is! :D

It's more money than I can really afford at the moment, but screw it, I think this has some incredible potential. :)
