Hello again my beloved jedi masters. :D

I´ll be upgrading my cpu cooler soon but I simply dont know how to choose to be honest.
My goal is good temperatures since i really dont care much about style or "looks".

The problem here is that I have a small motherboard (ASUS P8Z77-M), which unfortunately isn't capable of handling the best cpu coolers out there (correct me if im wrong) because of the size.

So that's about it, I´m really open to any advice since I´m completely blacked out in the cooling department. :worried:

    Thanks!

Edit: Sorry I forgot, socket is 1155 :3

You're wrong ;). I imagine most coolers will be compatible with your motherboard as long as you have normal (also known as low profile) memory. Size of the motherboard doesn't usually denote what size cooler you can fit, its more to do with the slot location and if there are any silly extras anywhere that would prevent you fitting a decent sized cooler on there.

What case do you have ? This may be a bigger factor in your choice of coolers.

    Aye then! I have:

    Case: Coolermaster HAF X (Full Tower);
    RAM: G Skill F3-12800CL9-4GBRL (x2, which means 8GB occupying 2 ram slots).

Edit: About the extras I really don't have any fancy addons, just really the RAM and pci-express slot near the cpu cooler spot.

I'm pretty sure a arctic freezer i30 will work with your motherboard (don't quote me on that though), so i'll recommend it for being a great, cheap and all-round great air cooler

Importantly, what CPU are you cooling? Does it need to overclock?

Sorry guys, wasn't able to reply sooner. :3

Anyhow, i have an Intel i7 2700k working on stock clock (NO overclock).
Well at the moment i don't feel the need to overclock it, though id like to invest in a good cpu cooler just in case.

I've got an Asus Gene V mobo with an i30 in my current set up. I have two sticks of Corsair Vengence Ram in slots 2 and 4. The cooler covers slot 1 and it would be a tight fit to get any memory in there (I dont think it would be possible with any profile). Hope that helps.

Most any of the 3 or 4 pipe towers using 120mm fans will do the job for you.

    I like
    Thermalright True Spirit 120
    Zaward Vapor 120
    Alpenföhn Triglav
    Xigmatek Gaia
    Alpenföhn Sella

    Slightly more money
    Alpenföhn Matterhorn (6 pipes)
