I'm not sure what the correct definition of what I'm wanting to do is, but here is what is happening... On my Windows Home Server 2011 it has Notifications/Alerts that it shows on the Dashboard/Launchpad. It also has the option to email these notifications. To do this you must SMTP settings as shown below Now the problem I am having is that my email account keeps getting disabled because of this "suspicious" activity of someone else sending emails through my account. Is there any way around this or another place I can send emails through? Thanks!
lol it's a Microsoft product being rejected by a Microsoft product. Much lol. I also second the suggestion of getting a Gmail account. I tend to like the Gmail email management as well, so I might be considered biased. But I know Gmail lets you do POP/IMAP and whatnot.
I have 3 gmail accounts. Do you think it will work without getting blocked? I guess I can try... I found it kind of ironic that an MS email blocks an MS product. lol
I set it up so that my gmail account could send email on behalf of my hotmail account and then set up the server to send email from my hotmail account through my gmail account to my other gmail account. yo dawg i herd yo like emails..... thanks for the tips guys.
Relay it off your isp's smtp server with any e-mail address you like eg: Homeserver@deathtaker.co.uk Just hope your isp doesn't need autentication on its servers
Most non-business ISPs probably won't have open SMTP relays, but it's worth checking their help pages and/or contacting them to check. Who's your ISP?
