Yay for only being able to get up to 8Mb broadband where I live.
Looking forward to a nice 100Mb connection when I go back to uni though :D

This is because of congestion....they have not invested hardly any money into the infrastructure and just decided to double everyone's speed....which obviously is going to have an effect somewhere....and this is seen with Gaming Issues and Streaming Issues...

I live not far from you and this is why ive left Virgin...Luckily I have fibre soon....

Edit: I was right, it was a business, so I'm still winning :p

Ah, but the funny thing is that streaming from Vimeo is fine, it's streaming from YouTube that's the problem which backs up the rumour that Virgin are throttling the likes of YouTube on their network. Will be leaving Virgin when out of contract and Infinity 2 available.

Looks like BT did increase our speed albeit not by much. Not sure what we should be getting now but it used to be up to 40Mbps.

What does your router say for line sync speed as since you are getting 15Mbps upload the download should be alot higher then 43.6Mbps- should be about 50-60Mbps down.

My grandparents live in the middle of nowhere in France, yet, their connection is 3 times faster than my home broadband.

    Guys... Get on my level
    [IMG]
Should be upgrading soon to either Virgin or BT 60mb/s; as my area has had a line upgrade. I can get a maximum of 100mb/s down my street now. so all should be good...

Took this a couple of days back on the downstairs machine. I've got much less bandwidth and higher ping at the second, due to crappy WiFi, should change within a couple of weeks when I get Homeplugs installed.

Just to put it into scale how awful the WiFi is; same line, only i'm on Wireless, rather than the Ethernet cable the machine downstairs has.

And that's with a 1000mW adaptor, too. 10x the IEEE limit on wireless output and it still can't pull more than 8Mb under load because the Homehub3 doesn't support dual-band 802.11n. Fail.

I should probably make things a bit clearer; Despite there being 802.11N on the Homehub; Signal falloff seems to be atrocious on it. The PC with wireless adaptor is approx. five feet above the Homehub, and a further Ten feet away. In an exact straight line; It's about twelve to fifteen feet of distance. There's a floor separating the two, copper piping of the heating system running through in one point. Average speed I see coming out of it? 6mb. On Wireless N. What the balls? I retain full signal strength, but it's horrifically slow most of the time.

KC 100mb Fibre - speedtest usually says its faster (kc network around 250mb) It does have a 600gb monthly usage cap though.

Waiting for BT to install FTTC in Yeovil - coming this Xmas (Allegedly), but the connection is rock stable (was done via wi-fi from my netbook but isn't a lot faster via Ethernet on my main rig) and always has been.

My download rate still makes no sense, even over Homeplugs, but I think it's just down to the Homehub being weird now, rather than any noticeable issue.

Ping is oddly high at the minute. Might be some delay on my system, it could do with a restart to clear out everything accessing the network.
