I think the main games I'm looking forward to over the next year or so are going to be: -Crysis 3 - Metro: Last Light - GTA5 - Assassins creed 3 - Far Cry 3 - Hawken - Aliens: Colonial Marines - ARMA 3 - The Elder Scrolls: Online - Rainbow 6: Patriots
I remember on teletext 10 odd years ago there was a games review section, GameCentral. I remember them using "killer app". Can't find any online archives, did find a couple references predating iOS appstore. link link In the context of wares, I take application as meaning the use of hardware, which is totally generic.
Ooo, didn't know there was a new Rainbox 6 game on the way! I've gotten Hawken Beta access, which should be my weekend sorted.
My top 5 in no particular order would have to be... -Football Manager 2013 -Football Manager 2013 -Football Manager 2013 -Football Manager 2013 -Football Manager 2013 oh and of course an honourable mention to... -Football Manager 2013
The definition you refer to doesn't mention games at all, let alone AAA games. The AAA usage is no where near that old. Read your link for the real definition of the word. It might be used by gamers to indicate AAA, but in the (far larger) PC/IT community it still means what it always has.
It sounds like the terminology my dad would use to describe new software (not necessarily games but games are software after all).
Not as an "App" but a "killer app" which has been used since ive been into gaming in the 80's it's usually synonymous with platform exclusives. A killer app is something that'll make you buy a Amstrad over a Speccy because it's only available on that platform. Apple didn't invent the word "App" and there's no reason to lay into a guy for using a word you're not familiar with. Edit: sorry when replying I didn't realise the thread was already on page three, and this discussion largely put to bed already. That'll learn me not to reply when tired.
