Hi Folks, I am after building a website for a motorcycle club i am in. Ideally i want it to look something like this and having the features of allowing the posting of the club photos.. http://www.tvvultures.co.uk/ But ideally i would want to tack on a user forum some how.... Any idea of web building sites that would allow for both?
That site was built with WIX see http://www.wix.com/ this is good if you have no code skills whatsoever. For a forum look at installed PHPBB3 or if you want a website and a forum try Wordpress. Install Wordpress on a webserver and then install the Forum Plugins available for wordpress. it truely depends on your skill.
LOL what is it with Comic Sans it must be a bike club thing. http://www.lcclub.co.uk/main.htm You could try Breezi. No idea how good it is though.
As mentioned above you could use WordPress with a forum plugin .. Or you could do the whole thing in Drupal, powerful steep learning curve Or use a cms such as Joomla, derived from Drupal and less of a learning curve Or use a forum software with a CMS plugin. SMF Simple Machines Forum with the TinyPortal plugin works well, very powerful, huge install base and support, not too steep on the learning curve. All depends on how much work you want to put in and what you are happy to manage. Check out the four above and you'll prolly find one that suits you. Crazy B
One of the companies I run is a Web Design/Marketing company (not sure if I can post links to it or not, so I'll hold back for now). But for most of our clients we usually suggest Wordpress. You have access to a whole armory of themes (free and premium), and it's easy to setup, update, and maintain. For a forum you could go the route of a paid/license type such as vBulletin, but there are some great free alternatives such as phpBB. It does take a bit to customize it and it may not be as pretty as vBulletin, but it is free
