right, the basic procedure was 240 grit - clean with methanol to get rid of the 'dust' - 600 grit - again methanol - 800 grit - methanol - layer of metallic turtle wax - 30 second dry period (as it was in direct sunlight) and then just rubbing the wax in for that streaky finish.

the main thing to remember is always sand in one direction.

    thats about it really

its the weekend and so its update time :D

not done a whole lot as im busy with other things atm. drilled out the vent holes in the roof to a pattern printed off the pc. as you can see, some holes a slightly misaligned, but overall it doesnt look too bad.

im not sure whether to keep this, or jigsaw out that rectangle and stick wire mesh behind it.

what do you guys think, keep it or scratch it?

I'd say it's a keeper. It feels more like one piece if the holes are part of the casing.

Lookin' good. I had considered this for a shuttle or other SFF project. I'm not too sure about the external barbs though, I was looking for some way of turning a valve and disconnecting the tubes which would hopefully seal both sides of the connection preventing any leaks. Good work though, I like the brushed finish :baby:

looks great  ! interesting solution too. I just wonder how does it match your case, hopefulle we will se some pics of your case too :D I also wonder what the benchmarks will be, performance wise. what if the water will gets a bit warmer travelling from "standalone unit" to computer. but what do i know. i don't even got water cooling myself :p

    good luck!

Nice one! Is the LCD parallel or serial? Because AFAIK parallel cable cannot be over 1 metre...

Is that a volume control or fan control?

    Thanks.

EDIT: omg it is not called "something standalone watercooling" anymore :D

My understanding was that thw whole thing IS a res.... Or is it JUST the rad, fan, and pump?

been playing around with some plexiglass today and this is the result :D

because i only had 2mm plexi, i ended up using two sheets to give a nice thick front.

the box will just have pump/fan/rad in there. i did think about making a res but it could be more trouble than its worth. then again if i can score some 4/5mm thick plexi, ill give it a go :)

if not, then ill just use an inline setup, and have a filling tube attached vertically to one of the corners with some sort of bung in it so i can seal it shut.
