Hello, I'm thinking of getting a new gpu soon now that i've started work again It seems to be a choice between a 7950 or 660ti, i've read a few reviews and the 7950 seems faster.....but i have read it suffers from frame delays and is not as smooth as the 660ti. What should i get? I use one screen at 1080p. Many thanks. B
GeForce 700 series coming this summer (Still Kepler based... will be most likely high end models only, and end of the year or early next 800 series, which will be the delayed Maxwell. In any case, you should wait at least summer, where the release of the 700 series, will drop the price of your 660Ti.. who knows you might be able to afford the 670
cheers GoodBytes, your advice is very good as always sir, its just i might take the plunge and get a new card very soon, i just want a change from me old faithfull 5850 loool, i really want to get the7950 but the things i have read about 660ti being smoother has thrown me abit.
Glad I could help! Nvidia publicly announced the 700 series. http://wccftech.com/nvidia-publicly-announces-geforce-gtx-780-geforce-esports/ Now it's a question of when it comes in stores, official prices (as for now, it's all rumors) and now the 600 series will drop in price.
The 7950 is the more powerful of the two cards and it comes with an more vRAM and more free games so it seems like the more logical choice to me. This is not true in single card configurations. In CrossFire, AMD cards were suffering from bad frame timings (there is a driver coming to fix the XFire problems) but in single GPU situations the difference is negligible.
both are good cards and will play anything well at 1080p, my choice would be the 7950 it can be had for £200 and free games, I would not worry too much about all the twaddle written about how bad amd drivers are, I have 2 7970 in crossfire on 13.5 beta drivers and have no problem with any games I've tried with them
I think i'm going to get a powercolor 7870xt with 4 games for £169, i read a few reviews and its nearly the same as a 7950 but £50 cheaper, Many thanks all.
