there is NO WAY this card is worth while being £250 MORE than a 7970.

Can you fix the middle graphs in BF3 and Skyrim? The res is showing 2560x1200.

Very nice. Be interesting to see how well SLi scales.

I was umming and arrring over the Titan since it was launched but just couldn't justify it. Even though this is very expensive I couldn't resist and I've ordered one.

Wowza, think I'll be holding onto the 670 for a good while yet.

Hmm I was hoping it would place closer to Titan in the 5760x1080 benchmarks.

As it stands my clocked 7970 (1250 core) would only be a few FPS behind in the latest games.

The 780 is great "value" compared only against Titan, but compared to the £250 cheaper 7970 (my VTX card is currently available for £299 with the Never Settle Reloaded bundle) it seems a tad too much.

Outright performance wise a price tag of £450-500 would have been more paletable.

    Slightly jealous! lol

My main issue is one wouldn't be enough, so I'd need a pair. :eyebrow:

IF this had been released at the `usual` pricing , of £420 then `the game would be afoot` , nv have added around 20% performance each step gtx 480>gtx580>gtx680 all for around £420

now they've done the same performance , but the increase in cost is 35% or so over the last high end release.

fudzilla was right when they said 28nm costs and beyond would go up massively for at least 1 company.

Now that Metro: Last Light has arrived maybe you could include that in your benchmarks as it is well optimised and yet can be quite taxing, as you probably know it comes with it's own benchmark utility.

Cluck a duck! 550 Clunking quid!? Are they mad?

I paid £505 for two 570GTX's on release day. That was a tough pill to swallow as I'd never paid more than £180 for a single card before let alone buying 2. I just about managed to justify it at the time.

My god this hobby is getting expensive. If there's nothing more sensibly priced next year I will abandon the 3 display setup. Its just not worth the money.

I'm hoping the Oculus Rift succeeds it.

There is a small mistake on the Crysis 3 1080 graph; the 690 should be above the 7990

I' ve just bought an EVGA GTX 780 from Scan for delivery on Saturday. This will replace my existing GTX 680 SLI setup and I can sell those cards to recoup the cost of the new one.

Yes, I do realise that I'm losing performance but I honestly think SLI was overkill for me as I play games at 1920x1200 on a 60 Hz IPS display with v-sync enabled. Also, I'm getting rather fed up of games not being properly supported by SLI (I'd say about 80% of the games I play either don't use it or don't need it) and there a growing number of games for which I have to disable SLI physically in order for them to even work (e.g. The Book of Unwritten Tales, Zack Zero and Trials Evolution). I get the sense that most developers are not really committed to supporting multi-GPUs except for major releases as they're console focused anyway.

Basically, I cannot wait to get back to using a single GPU card for my games and not having to worry about profile updates for SLI. SLI certainly isn't awful; when games use it fully then it's great, but not every game does and what's the point in owning a second card if 80% of the time it isn't being used fully? I'm glad I've been able to try SLI and CFX before it (dear lord though, HD 5870 CFX was bad!) but it is not for me.

P.S. I do feel the GTX 780 is overpriced (I paid £549 for mine) by about £150. It really should be seen as the replacement for the 14 month old GTX 680 and as such you'd expect more VRAM and an increase in performance over the older card. I paid £385 each for my GTX 680s back in March 2013 and I personally feel the GTX 780 might have be a more attractive buy for everyone if it had been priced at around £400.

Heat and power aside, as it stands, putting another 670 next to mine is the much more cost effective upgrade, and will give more performance than a 780..

If it had been £100 cheaper then I'd have got itchy fingers

BTW Harry, what happened to "no significant GFX releases until the end of 2013"? :p

I was hoping to switch my EVGA 680 Cheesecake (I have a hard time finding a block that would fit) to reference design 780, but this price is a deal breaker.
I guess I will wait until the next gen comes out and hope its not £600+
