Motors Washed key fob!!!

I didn't take battery out yet.
It is glued together, didn't want to break it.

I'll keep it in bag of rice for today, tomorrow will try and put it in oven for lowest temp for a minute maybe even opened oven door, just in case I toast it
Then I will try it out.

The one I have is glued together so cannot simply take it apart.
Maybe its waterproof then? We'll see when I try it out

Shouldnt these be waterproof ? Keys are the kind of things that folks easily forgot before pressing 'start' on the washing machine.

 

..or dropped in a puddle whilst entering/exiting the car.

Well my sky remote survived falling into a glass of berocca and being in there for about an hour! Just opened it up, took it apart, dried it with paper towels and a gentle fan dry and it works better now than it did before - must be the added vitamins

 

Unless you actually need to use the key/car then I would just leave it to dry out for as long as you possibly can.

I have had great luck with electronics and water, firstly by not having many accidents and when I do, always leaving them for as long as possible and immediately removing the battery (obviously not possible in your case) especially if it is something "active" like a phone.

My girlfriend is a nightmare with water and things that shouldn't be in water, her old iPhone survived many baths and toilet trips. Dropping the end into lemon curd finally finished it off

 

I went swimming with my espace key - on the same key ring was my wow authenticator....1 out of the 2 survived the experience...

Just to give you an idea on it's water-tightness; seems pretty waterproof to me, i think you'll be OK

 

the fob not normally that expensive its the key number and programming it were you wont the lube

 

I'd go with leaving it as long as possible, it's one thing being waterproof, but quite another surviving a washing machine.

In terms of price my malfunctioning Audi key was invoiced at £349 to replace. Thankfully I wasn't paying..
