Hey guys, I am making a new rig for my Dad, he mainly wants it for the usual normal person use, however he wants it to be nice and quick and relatively future proof Baring that in mind, what do ppl think about the following spec? Scan Spec Any input appreciated, many thanks in advance p.s. could also do with a cheap way of getting HDMI in there *Edit* Budget is about £400 all in
Swap the CPU and motherboard for a 5600k and spend the spare £70 on an SSD or monitor upgrade. Those will bring far more noticeable gains while the CU would only be obvious in benchmarks.
ok, thank you everyone for your input i will chuck in an SSD, will make everyone happy And thanks Parge, great shout on the board *Edit* Never mind about the non-1TB-HDD idea, he didn't like that
Here's an idea (was also mentions above) using AMD.It comes in at £421. If that £21 is to much then just down grade to a A10 5800k. http://www.scan.co.uk/savedbasket/ddc96d0990fb4cb1a0422b2509ff1eaf This would offer better graphics performance, no real notible decrease in system speed and a 128GB SSD (that will give a noticeable increase in sytem speed)
Yeh, my Dad was set on Intel (don't know why as he wants a budget rig.... *sigh*) I shall put together a spec like the one above for him for AMD and try and persuade him otherwise Thanks everyone
Another way to save a bit on that would be get a smaller power supply http://www.scan.co.uk/products/430w...-bronze-eff-uncertified-quiet-fan-atx-v23-psu Without a discrete graphics card I doubt you'd need a 500w supply
Why's your dad asking for your help when he's overruling you based on marketing rather than benchmark performance and value.
