So I'm moving over to the UK, and to bring my 27" Dell over would cost me £120. I can get a new 24" 120hz for £250 odd, so it seems silly to bring the Dell over (what do you think?). Does anyone know of any 1440p AND 100-120hz monitors out there? Obviosly if the price is ludicrously high then I'll have to settle for a 1080p 100hz.

You can manually overclock some of the Korean 1440p monitors to 100hz+

Nothing official though that I know of.
It depends if you'd rather have 1440p or 120hz, and of course how much you could sell your Dell for.

I wouldnt sell it, I'd leave it at home. Hmm, looks like it might just be worth taking it with me heh. It's still got 3 years warranty left on it.

So, do I send the monitor Uninsured for £60, insured for £130, or get a new monitor for £250 and leave my Dell at home?

How long will you be here/using the 'new' monitor? (if you were to buy)

No idea, but to be honest it's probably better just to get a new one than lug a 27" to someones house where I'll only be able to have it in a room that might be a shoebox.

The airline doesn't allow people to put computer monitors in the hold (bs but ok), I cant take it hand luggage because the box is HUGE.

Surely if you remove the stand (they are cheap off ebay anyway) and put it in a box and wrap it up I doubt they'd care. If its in all your clothes it would be padded anyway.
