It would also be a nightmare to regulate and get the components compliant with regulations.

It's completely possible (you can make an android phone with a BeagleBoard if you're persistent and have deep pockets) and it's not as big a deal as a lot of you think. The question is "will it catch on or just be a thing for a few people and never heard of again?"

I can tell you what is in reality holding back mobile phone development (and more truly, computer development as a whole) is that you have different OSes. Once we standardized one OS, we could work on getting everything to work on the hardware we have. But when you run eleventyfour flavors of one OS, not to mention competing companies, we spend way too much of our time trying to replicate features another has or talking trash about them.

Notice I have no recommendation for what OS is right. In my opinion, the only reason I think cell phone progress is good is that they've gotten thin enough for me to peg to a target with an arrow. I wish they would all disappear overnight, and wifi along with it. Take tablets too, but the cat is out of the bag, and it won't be caught again. But yes, this is completely doable, and it's really not that hard-a lot of people in developing countries have frankenphones out of sheer necessity, so codifying it ought to be possible.

Not sure it'll catch on at all, but possible, yes.

Was looking at the paper this morning before starting work and there was a full page ad on the back cover for GTAV and in the middle right below the game title there is an image of a guy on a jetski. Take a close look at the name on the side:

Having worked the entire Summer, it's my final day tomorrow before heading back to Uni on Friday. Makes me feel awesome to think I haven't wasted a Summer and that I have managed to get out of my student overdraft! Got a couple of meetings tomorrow to sort out a handover of all that I've been doing and then it's off to the pub!

Oh, and my manager wants me back full-time once I've finished my third year which kicks ass to know that I'm wanted!

Cheers. it's been great so far. I'm enjoying all the assignments and with me disliking school so much, the general attitude to teaching seems a lot better, which is awesome.

The people outside my class are generally meh, but that's ok. What's struck me most is the sheer amount of people doing film/ media studies. It's just crazy- so fat, it's got to be every second person.
