For a number of reasons here I suppose. We have started using other cutting techniques more and more. V bit chamfers, countersinking screw heads and extremely fine inlay work. We looked at the option of laser cutting our panels initially and then doing countersinks etc at a later time but with entire panels being cut out with V bit cutters this just wasn't viable.
With this 7 tool tool changer and the speed we can run the tools at with this machine we are very happy.

I suppose in an ideal world we may move to getting both but we also do a lot of 3d wood work jobs and these have to be milled. Its nice to keep doing the wood work to ensure the bills are paid and keep us on our toes as far as the CNC game goes.

Case assembly

Assembling the first of the panels:

Back once again (for the renegade master)... for another update. Not sure why I posted these lyrics, but it is the weekend now! Almost...

Apologize here for my writing style and for how many exclamation marks I use. I suppose I get a bit carried away some times.

First then we assemble the front part of the case. This is made up of 3 x 5mm thick layers. White first, then frosted followed by black. Really wanted to use the frosted on top of white after our ROG ITX build. Also the primary reason for this was to give us enough thickness to inlay the 12mm acrylic tubing:



Really happy with the new 'squarer' detailing used for the USB 3 header. Also hard to see in the photo but a very slight chamfer to slit for the slot loading drive:




Frosted on white with some of the cubes installed:



Note here the removed section to allow the 90° bent tubing to pass through into top and bottom chambers:



Some more photos of the front assembly, the USB and drive detailing. Then the third front layer:






Installed the case bottom and the internal bottom chamber:



Top chamber & middle wall in place. Lots of white space inside this case:



I will shut up talking and continue assembly now:











Last little update for tonight; wanted to check the USB header fit with no issue. We decided to inlay the full plastic unit into the back of the white. To then be screwed into the clear in the front as usual:

Hope your enjoying this so far... it's hard to see the case as we see it. This case will very much change when we start to get some hardware and cooling inside. But so far couldn't be happier.

Oh, the SLOT Loading drive addition is very welcomed IMO.

 

Seriously crazy! How did you get the corners square on your bevels? -Custom pass with a tiny bit? It looks great.
Feedback: You might want to start adding more mounting points. With all the hardware, a full ATX setup in plastic can get way heavy. -Specially with ~3/4" thick front panels 'n stuff.
Maybe just a set in the middle of the mobo tray if there's room. That should stop any creaking/groaning if there is any.

Moar front USB! Even 4 more USB 2.0 would be useful as I hate running out at the front :/ The option to buy replacements for pass-through USB 3.0 too would be nice: high power, fast charging!

 

UMMM wow! Thanks everyone. great initial response! The slot loading drive will be nice, something we can think about as an option for future cases etc. I mean personally I'd say I don't need one, but out of my group of 6 or so close friends that go to events with us nobody has one. I found myself last LAN borrowing an external USB DVD drive from someone over at MSI. Thus I figured at least one of our builds better have a drive.

They have damn awful internet at the last iSeries in comparison to the previous events so a DVD drive actually became very useful!

Actually managed to tool path it yeah. Imagine the Vbit tool just has a 45° line from the bottom of the cut to the top corner and it raises up in each corner as its cutting. Really happy with the result, the 45° cuts are much more suited to the Parvum build aesthetics.

For the extra strength do you mean the mobo having two more cubes and fitting to the front and back panels? Yeah that defiantly makes sense however in this case due to the curve in the mid wall it actually completely kills any of the flexibility in the mid wall so we should be ok. Dont wana cut it again haha

I was considering a second set in the front actually but went against it. I don't like plugging things into the front of my system. So these two are simply for a quick USB stick every once in a while.

As for at the rear we actually have two additional USB ports coming. More on that in the next update though
