Wasn't too sure where the best place for this is but anyway. My phone (motorola atrix) has developed a fault with its 3.5mm headphone socket. I was planning of keeping the phone when my contract was up in Dec but this sorta scuppered the plan. So now I'm looking for a decent value replacement. Since the contract is nearly up an unlocked will be essential. Atm I'm looking at Lumia 820 £190 amazon Galaxy S3 mini £180 amazon Nexus 5 (when released) Battery life is fairly important other than that all have the features I use. Has anyone any thoughts or opinions what I should go for?
I'd rule out the S3 Mini now. Compared to any other suggestions, it's just a poor value phone. +1 to the Nexus 5 anyway.
If the phone is buggered and you're considering a new one i'm assuming it's not under any kind or contract or warranty. Why not open it up and replace the jack? I did so for my brother-in-law's phone a long while ago and it fixed the horrible buzzing he heard when he wore earphones.
I would be tempted by the Nexus 5, a high end smartphone for <£300, although I can recommend the Lumia 820 (have one as my work phone) albeit lacking in the app department.
That also. The Lumias have proved a brilliant line up of phones, especially if you do like the OS. Regarding apps, more and more people are starting to develop for it, albeit a little slowly. But for the most part, what there is so far isn't bad at all!
