Unless Williams can pull off a Brawn '09 then I fear he's destined to spend the rest of his career languishing in the lower midfield.

Which would be a damn shame because he's still one of the quickest drivers on the grid in the right car.

Also looks like Smedley is following Massa to Williams

So, so far we have -

    RBR - Vettel / Ricciardo
    Ferrari - Alonso / Raikkonen
    Williams - Massa / Bottas
Torro Rosso - Verne / Kyvat

And most likely [may or may not include speculation and/or wishful thinking] -

McLaren - Button / Perez EDIT: Magnussen
    Lotus - Grosjean / Hulkenberg
    Sauber - Maldonado / Sirotkin
    FIndia - Sutil / DiResta

And Caterham/Marussia will probably take whatever they can get

Or Massa had more money than Maldonaldo. Maybe oil money from Venezuela is drying up ?

That's why McLaren are under the 'most likely' heading... I wouldn't be all to surprised if they picked Magnussen over Perez, but I'm still half-expecting it to be Button / Perez next year...

I get the feeling the fact they get Smedley as part of the deal [he's supposed be taking on a 'technical role' at williams] is one of the reasons they chose Massa over Pasta...

Some things sponsorship money can't buy...

Now that I would like. He is young and when the Honda motor is in, he can learn quickly.

Wow, silly season all getting wrapped up now! This has got to be one of the latest sortings-out of the front/mid packs there has been for years.

Very glad Maldonado is out at Williams, he's the one driver on the grid who not only doesn't deserve a seat, but is a total liability as well.

We are still not safe, Lotus may well take him over the Hulk. Quantum still need to pay.

Feel kind of sorry for Perez, unless MAgnussen is truly something special (like Vettel, Hamilton, Schumacher special) his first season's going to be a year of getting thumped by Button and that could be the end of him too. It's kind of a poisoned chalice to go up against a driver who has little/no hype surrounding him, but is the fifth or sixth fastest on the grid regardless.

Money or not, if the rumors about Crashtor's attitude are true he'll be driving a skip wagon soon.

Hopefully Massa and Symonds are going to bring some consistency to Williams.

So next year is already shaping up to be potentially more exciting than this year.
Massa in and, with any luck, Hulk at Lotus, Magnussen at McLaren means that some of the unlikeable drivers are out.
Lots of new blood, new spirit and new regulations...

    Excuse the double post.

Joe Saward confirms that Perez is gone at McLaren.

He also comments on the Lotus position for the next two races.

In short: Unless Quantum pays up, expect to see Pasta at Lotus next year. That would make me have some serious sad.

So what will the Hulk do?

I have to agree - I am sorry for Perez. He does deserve at least a drive, unlike Pasta. Maybe he can tempt the Lotus seat with Mexican monies?

He may be **** on the track, but TI's Twitter feed has been first to the news in the last few days. This is also a good point too:

In this era of pay drivers it's quite something to see Magnussen getting a drive. We need the big teams to continue developing their young drivers far more than we need the likes of Maldonado.

Joe Saward makes an interesting point about Lotus and their options for the last two races. I didn't know Hulkenberg hadn't been paid either.

Well we know who's won the f1 next year till hopefully Honda engines hit the road running the year after. But hopefully the fight for second heats up.
