Does anyone know anything about virtual shared graphics adapters in ESXI?
Has anyone got it to work or seen it work? Is the whole thing a bit hit or miss compatability wise.

So far I have found trying to use VT-d pass through a complicated mess with my cheapy amd graphics card, which ultimately ended in a "lifes too short" conclusion trying to get it working.

I'd like to try this vSGA stuff but forking out for even a second hand quadro 4000 is a lot of money just to have an experience similar to my VT-d graphics pass through efforts.

Quadro 600's seem to go cheaply, no idea if they got the bill

Think it needs a vmware view server to use the technology. So its a no go no matter what way I approach it. Damn you enterprise technology and your enterprise prices!

I wish I was a student! Even so the view server license is not covered under their academic licensing.

I personally got VT-d working with a DVB-C card on my previous server board, but never tried to use it with VGA cards.

Yeah, I had on board bluetooth working on pass through believe it or not. Alas graphics was just not happening. Plus there seemed to be a crazy 2gb ram limit on the vm in order for it to be able to even boot with the graphics card passed through.

I think I'll just stick to a vmware workstation server for now
