I'd rather die, in my prime, of a massive morphine overdose, than of old age.

Shame my prime was about ten years ago.

Your reasoning being? I've seen many impractical car mods done "because they can" and "so I'm the first person to have done it".

It would be quite easy to plumb them into the existing radiator system --they're right adjacent to it.

The problem is that the engine cooling system runs at something like 240 degrees F and so it would be heating, rather than cooling, the headlights.

To do it right you would need a separate cooling loop just for the headlights, which of course could be done... :worried:

Once the weather gets decent, I may just do this for shits and giggles. The car has a place I can put another Rad, and I have a number of rather naughty XM-L2's looking for a project.

:duh: True. But there often is room for another small rad. Put in an Davies-Craig EBP or Laing D5 pump and you're all set.

This. Risk reduction states that WCing loop is more prone to failure and an unnecessarily higher cost than a simple alu heatsink.

I've been around product managers too long :p

Don't forget weight - the enemy of all cars. An alu heatsink will be much lighter than having a WC loop.

Yes, but you won't be able to overclock the headlights as much with a simple alu heatsink. :p :)

And those who OC headlights should be shot. Some of us have serious light sensitivity problems and this craze for brightest headlight leaves me screaming in the floorboards. My wife is also sensitive and she nearly runs off the road. If you're night blind, quit driving. Simple as that.

This. I have an inordinate amount of rage for people who don't dip for oncoming cars.

If I do it, it will be on a 300TDi and only used offroad.

So you have a condition that means you almost go off the road when someone with bright lights goes past? I can't think of a more polite way of putting this, but, do you think you should still be driving at night?
(I'm not trying to be rude)

Can we get back to being demotivated please, or am I going to have to post "that" picture?

This is the last I'll say, and then return you to demotes. Regular car headlights are bearable. My wife can deal with those just fine while driving. But all of these new super-bright LED fry your retina lights by themselves are bad, and any efforts to amp them up end up in her unable to see. I can't deal with regular ones, but then I don't drive either. I wear special prescription lenses and an eyepatch because overhead lights can blind me. Outdoors without my glasses is painful. I've had to redo the lighting in the house because of the pain it causes me. But that's the effects of a stroke for you. My wife is simply light-sensitive. I got rewired.

And April 1, huh... I smell joke.
