    On the selfie-and-no-make-up-thing:

    I don't understand. If they want to show compassion: shave your goddamn head!

    My wife is fighting breastcancer as we speak. Undergoing her second typ of chemo, and lost her hair already during the first chemo treatment,. (which didn't have any effect on her tumor: there's a demot)
    She has and is actively wearing a wig, mostly because she doesn't like to be stared at, and to see yourself in a mirror bald is seeing yourself as ill/sick/a cancer patient, which isn't helping.

    PS: the machines (scalp coolers) to safe your hair aren't effective with the specific chemo she had, and scalp coolers won't saving eyebrows or lashes either.

    I love my wife, with and without make-up.

    What it boils down to is the real-life version of a facebook like; people want to show solidarity/support but they don't really want to do much/anything that requires much effort or costs money > Women not wearing make up or men putting on make up and boasting about how they support the cause. Bordering on pathetic attention seeking/self gratification while the people actually suffering don't benefit one little bit- want to help cancer sufferers? Donate some money to cancer research, simples.
