Modding Good Dremel Kit?

Try Home Depot, you should be able to but the kit with the flex shaft for closer to $65

 

the accessories all look fairly standard tbh
meh dremel has all of those bits

 

is the Flex shaft any better...To me it seems like it could get in the way..

 

I bought the kit without the flex handle and a friend bought the one with. Trust me, the flex handle is very nice to have

 

I mostly don't use the shaft attachment for cutting, but it's way handy for engraving. Didn't use mine for a year, but it got some good use recently. It's useful at low sppeds mainly, I don't think you can run it at 35k rpm.

 

get the other kit. it includes a flexible shaft, and a depth cutting attachment with side cutting bits for the same price.

Also what other tools would I need to mod my case or other things? I allready have a cordless screw driver..I plan on geting a Cordless Drill soon...And the Dremel with the Flex shaft.. Anything else?

 

I wouldn't get a cordless drill - they have a tendency to not cut well with holesaws and to not be as powerful as a good corded.

DONT get a cordless drill..... you gonna need the torque that only a real power drill can offer. id also suggest you get a nibbler or 12, a set of jewler's screwdrivers, a good high power soldering gun(at least 100/130w),and a good set of titanuim drill bits. hole saws or a circle cutting jig( sold with diy speaker parts) come in real handy, as does a good selection of extra hardware. you cant ever have enuff vinyl grommets or thumbscrews or fan screws.

 

Umm 100-300W soldering iron? Are you working with small wires and circuits here or some huge projects? I just orderd an adjustable (to 40W) one and from everything I have read and researched, 25-40W is good. I have actually seen very stern warnings against getting one that gets too hot.

 

basically, the hotter the iron, the faster the solder gives, and youre less likely to fry all them melt-y parts like plastics,wire insulation, pcb traces, etc..... and i meant 100 - 130w , not 300. trigger types are better for power cunsumption too, theyre only on 10 seconds to heat and 5 to solder, tops. the pencil types are always on, and your more likely to burn them fingers on one.

 

i can vouch for that, i have a lil pencil 30watt and i was soldering in some new bloo leds the other night and i didn't look up i just went to grab the soldering iron and i grabbed the wrong end of it and OUCH did it hurt, i let go and looked at my thumb and index finger and they were grey like when u fry minced beef

 

Wait I need a 100W soldering iron? that sounds like alot for small work...whats wrong with like a 30w or something.. I never used or seen a nibbler before..

 

yeah a 30 watt is fine for me, does LED's and small work fine, you don't need anything that powerful.
