"3b is usually a graphic's driver (display adapter/video driver), other possibilities include but are not
limited to antivirus/antispyware/security programs and even memory (mapping).

    BCCode: 3b 0x0000003b

    Cause

This error has been linked to excessive paged pool usage and may occur due to user-mode graphics drivers crossing over and passing bad data to the kernel code."

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...ws-7-pro/59ab0256-b23c-4f4a-823a-b0444565942e

There is loads on google mate, just google bccode 3b.

    hello

so recently the pc has begun freezing. most often during a youtube video or a movie. the pc freezes and the only option is to restart the entire pc.

I had reinstalled the graphics drivers and the problems has continued. I had put everything back to stock settings however continue to get random freezes etc

    any help would be great

could be faulty hardware if you've updated all drivers (and tried not so uptodate ones too)

if you get another crash dump, if you wouldn't mind uploading it somewhere we could do further analysis on it

Have you checked the RAM, from what i can tell the BSOD was triggered by a Microsoft file cdd.dll so unless the file has become corrupted it seem to point to a memory problem.

how can I test the ram ? shall I run memtest ?

In bluescreenview it shows cdd.dll as being the cause and describes it as Canonical Display Driver

the previous one on 9th was caused by 1394ohci.sys and thats described as a 1394 openHCL Driver

    before that 5/6/2014 - HIDCLASS.SYS - Hid Class Library

    before that 4/6/2014 - NDProxy.sys - NDIS Proxy

I can always reinstall windows pretty easily as theres only afew games and windows and office installed on my ssd

Yes. Run memtest if it finds any problems try removing any overclocks, I'm guessing you are running 2x4GB in dual channel so you may want to test individual sticks if it still fails at stock speeds.

Reinstalling Windows won't help until after you identify and fix the problem if it's hardware related.

just had another bluescreen and bluescreenview says it was caused by ntoskrnl.exe

everything is at stock - will run memtest to check ram

Did the RAM check out OK ?
    Because the files/drivers causing the BSOD's so far have all been different win32k.exe, cdd.dll, 1394ohci.sys, HIDCLASS.SYS, NDProxy.sys, AsIO.sys and rdpbus.sys

So it does seem to point strongly to either the RAM, or some other hardware problem.
Does the same happen when running without the overclock ?

Last time I had problems like that with many seemingly unrelated bsod it was because of the SSD.

doing memtest now. any idea how long i should run it for ?
I will reseat all components - good idea
    I am using a 500g hdd and a 256gb samsung ssd 840

    memtest started at 12:39

I have been getting some artifacting whilst using google chrome and last bsod was during a youtube video. also some freeze ups were during youtube videos. but performance is fine during battlefield 4 and assasins creed black flag. its really puzzling.

Also could it be me using samsung magician ssd software and intel rapid storage ?

update - 3hrs 48mins and 44 tests complete. 4 passes. all 100% passed. I reseated the ram before test will check for bsod then reseat cpu and gou if required.

Im 99% sure its a broken GPU

lots of reports of asus 280x online that are have artifact issues and also BSOD.

Iv got ahold of another PC with a 6 year old nvidia card which has been proved to be stable. Im going to swap cards and check if the issue continues. If its good for 3 days with no bsod then I will have to RMA the 280X

If the problems persist then I will have to check motherboard and cpu for the issues. I do fortunately have a freenas server with a gigabyte board which is stable along with a intel G2020.

will be swapping and testing. I dont think any tests cause the error just use on google chrome and while using vlc player. I will try my best to replicate the error anyhow.

thank you all for the help- Rep added. Its been a long bizarre struggle with this PC.
