I was hoping you dudes wouldn't say that, lol. Making faceplates is such hard work, especially when you don't have a proper work surface and you work on the floor I suppose I will have to make a custom faceplate for the DVD-ROM at some point though, but first I am planning a custom faceplate for someting else
Nice work on the faceplate. I don't have the time to make another since I ruined the first when the cutting disc snapped. Lookin pretty cool so far, keep it up
Looking ace dude... I shall be thoroughly inspecting the workmanship at the end of the week... LegoLand.. woo!!
Re: Re: Project Annihilator (56k!) It's not that slow really, it handles everything that I have to throw at it, when I get some extra funds it will be upgraded though
Re: Re: Re: Project Annihilator (56k!) You didnt get it did you ? 1.4 M Hz 1.4 Ghz is fast enuff .... but 1.4 Mhz ?
I have a habbit of not reading things properly! Anyway time to play a little guessing game... Who can tell me what this is shaping up to be.... -H- you are not allowed to play since I told you I was going to do this a long time ago!
Here's more pics of the custom DigiDoc faceplate in progress... This is the start, just a scrap piece of LianLi side panel : Cut it down to size and marked what I needed to cut : This is about as good as my work area gets : (yet another out of focus pic) Holes are drilled for the control panel buttons and ready to be filed : Most of the filing done, just touch ups to do now : Filing done! Now I had to figure out a way to mount the DigiDoc PCB onto the new faceplate, so I found these in my toolbox... ...and decided to use them as stand-offs but I had to cut the threads off first :
*yawn* Digidoc faceplate [edit] Posted once I saw the first pic btw... didn't realise you'd revealed what it was. Buttons are so obvious
If it makes you feel better, I didn't know. I was thinking it was the start of a fan grill or window. I guess I have trouble with such things so early in the afternoon.
Haven't had much spare time lately to make a lot of progress, I'm hoping to do a lot more this weekend though. Tonight I thought I'd get started on making brackets for my new DigiDoc faceplate so here's the action... I decided to use a lid from a broken cd-rom drive I had lying around, this was so that I could use the screw threads on it so I don't have to use nuts and bolts (hope that makes sense), anyhow here's a pic of the old lid : After a little bit of Dremelling I had this : And after a bit more Dremelling some filing, and some bending I had this : I done this x2 ofcourse. More pics to follow in a few hours after the Araldite resin has cured / dried.
