They are very nice, it's just a bit of a shame that those are the only 2 bespoke models for that set, the rest are the standard ones from other boxes.
That hellbrute is super nice.. flesh is spot on.. some clear medium over the tentacles will calm off the gloss.. the horns are ideal fir drybrushibg as they have deep grooves that will stay dark as you drybrush up..
Thanks. Quick question, since I'm painting Word Bearers, I need to cover them in holy script but wondering how to paint it without it looking tacky?
0.05 Technical Pen is the best way, I got one for doing the checkerboard outlines and such worth every penny
I don't do chaos, never have, but i'll reserve judgement on the models until I see better [bigger] piccies...
DAMNIT! Stop releasing things with those ammo chutes! I've seen a few fan photos of the possessed marines and they are pretty damn awesome!
Rumoured SW release, apprently end of this month-August is apprently all Nurgle- 40k-fantasy swtich seems to have gone out the window at current. -Wolf Lord in Terminator Armor / Lorgan Grimnar -Wolf Lord / Ragnar Blackmane -Wolf Priest / Ulrik -Iron Priest with Thralls Box -Rune Warriors with Rune Priest / Wolf Guard Box
I will be SO happy if this is the case. I've actually sold a lot of my 40k recently and only have Eldar and my space wolves left as I've gotten into warmachine a lot more recently. If this is true I'll be extremely pleased, they're essentially updating all of the old wolf characters and adding a new unit it seems. The only thing this release is missing is a flyer and or a new wolf dreadnought.
Do you guys bother with varnishing your models, if so with gloss, Matt or both? I've noticed so paint rubbing of already but don't want to ruin the colour either.
Once I'm finished I always use matt varnish, does a great job of keeping the paint on. It still rubs off on the edges (really sharp edges) but you can touch that up with paint + that technical paint replacement for water. Works quite well for me. Also if anyone wants said models from the 'Stormclaw' boxset, drop me a PM. I only bought it for the A5 rulebook. edit: Stormclaw, not Sanctus Reach...
I use either matt lacquer intended for cars, or Amry Painter anti-shine varnish. The car stuff seems to preserve the 'metallic' effect of metallic paints, army painter makes it very flat, but it looks superb on armour panels etc. but I tend to have gloss lacquer applied between certain stages of paint anyway, so there's arguably more clear lacquer than paint on my models..
Is that spray or brush on? Want something easy to get hold of and apply. Only tried spray once and my models ended up white.
You don't want to use paint on varnish. Ever. If you turned your model white you're spraying too much, I've had it happen to me. It isn't like spraying GW black where you can go mad with it. Instead you need to apply it little and often and I really do mean little. Brush it over 1-2 times quickly and wait for it to dry and repeat until it's a complete layer (you can see if it's not complete coverage by shining a light on it). Oh and don't do it outdoors, the wind doesn't help at all.
The army painter stuff I use like regular clear lacquer from an aerosol. Blow over the model once from each side (left-right), let it dry, and if it's the "final" lacquer, repeat twice. I've not had any 'white' issues with army painter stuff, and neither's the guy who insisted I try it. Not to say it's impossible, but still.
