I wonder if anyone with cnc/lathe/mill or other heavy hardware could do this for me and for how much?

It would be about 5cm dia round rod, about 10cm tall and 1/4 needs to be cut out on about half of the height.
I would have 4 rods like this.

    Is it easy to do?

should be doable on a rotary axis, my machine just cant handle it by about 1cm. also you probably would get an arc in the corner of the bottom hole because there are no square mills.

in the picture the mills should be seen as 90 degrees relative to the surfaces.

also it would be wise to mention the material that you would want because alu and plastics can be done by almost everybody but steel or stainless steel would be much harder.

Sorry forgot to mention. Either aluminum or acetal. Depends on costs.

If it's in acetal, you could chisel the rounded part out. It could be cut on a simple mill, with a single pocket operation, and the one round edge shaved out with a razor blade.

The tricky bit would be clamping. You'd need extra material for clamping depending on how you did it.

Yup, can be done on a mill. By cutting the slot a second time from a plane perpendicular to the first, you can almost square off the bottom of the slot. The rest is just some hand finishing.

Make a square wooden collet? And I'd be more inclined to take out the fillet with a scraper or graver rather than a file...

Or maybe other option.. now I'm thinking of making square ones.. or third version - full round sides...

Hi, how do you draw in that software a 3D object?
    I can't do it:(

Could I draw it in Sketchup and export as dxf or similar format?

If it can be done on a lathe, I can do it. The cut-outs require a mill however and I haven't bought mine yet. Teel of course has some seriously teh sexeh hardware, so he may be able to help you out. :)
