Scratch Build – In Progress Proxima - Almost there! (28-12-2014)

Thanks mate. I'll have to start a new design thread, with time passing by, the pics are not available anymore .

Well I hope this design makes its way into reality. I absolutely adore the design. The angles are wonderful.

Not that I am against case mods in any way, but I hold a soft spot for scratch builds. It just takes so much more design work to pull of a scratch build well.

 

No worries this will definitely make it to a final photo shoot!

I agree. Cases are already well designed and optimized, modding it is quite limited and does not take THAT much thinking. But a good casemod is also very rewarding.

 

Hey, I just finished reading through your log. You've got a really elegant and unique design here I think. I'm especially impressed by all those big radius bends. Those must have been tricky.

Thanks man. The bends wasn't too tricky. I printed the full scale diagram to have the perfect shape. The aluminium is kind of thick (3mm) so it's quite strong. I then put it over a gap and stood on it, jumped, used my arms etc until the curve it quite right.

Thank you. The side panels are also in progress. Already joined the wood and cut it out. Now just need to be finished down and then put in the detail bits like the glass (yes glass) and mesh etc.

Holy **** that looks nice! The planned idea of where the USB ports will be is genius and sleek! Hopefully the next update doesn't take as long as the last!
