Just bought this led strip at scan.. And I need to dim it as it is too bright! I have tried to run it at 5v and 7v but it doesn't turn on at all? Is this led strip just a simple 12v or off? Thanks Mods if im in the wrong section please move me! Cheers
My understanding is that you can't dim an LED strip simply by lowering the voltage. The regulators and doodads within the strip aren't happy. You'll probably need something like this: (I have no idea if this exact solution will work for you!!) http://www.amazon.co.uk/LEDER®-WIRE...=1375113984&sr=8-1&keywords=led+lights+dimmer That should dim the strip by rapidly swathing the LEDs on and off, this is how LED dimming generally works.
Dont worry boys i have sorted it, gunna get a remote control phobya strip! Cheers for the input boys!
I have a couple of these things, bought mine with long light strips off Ebay and they certainly will dim the supplied LED's. So yes it will work. This is what I bought.http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_f...1.TRC1.A0.H0.XRGB&_nkw=rgb+led+strip&_sacat=0 You can cut the strips to a desired length, change colour, dim, flash ETC ETC.
Just been looking at the ir remote controller and my phobya flexlight connects via a 3 pin fan header but this ir remote controller uses some odd connector I have never seen before haha! Im so confused :s
Are you talking about this sort of connection? http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_f...H0.XRGB+connector&_nkw=RGB+connector&_sacat=0
Hmm that is odd as they are both the LED strip and the controller are Phobya. As the controller has the 4 cable connection I would suggest picking yourself up some light strips from Ebay as they use the same connection as your controller.
I don't think so as one is 3 wire and the other is for so you would lose something along the way. Look bung me your address by PM and I will send you these lights. Just the lights though I am keeping the remote ETC.
Yep, my PC is done so these are just lying about in a box. http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=276418 So if you can use them you are welcome.
