Not bothered about xmas but I do enjoy having the time off work. Every other holiday I get pestered with calls and emails from work but because no ones in over Christmas the phones blissfully quite.
If I didn't have a girlfriend or a christmas obsessed mother, I probably wouldn't even notice if it wasn't there. Couldn't be less interested in it from just about every angle. The only enjoyment I extract from the period is annoying friends with presents wrapped like they're trying to survive a war. Personal best is two hours to open a present. It involved a big wooden ammo crate, wood screws, expanding foam, and a quarter inch of fabric double thick glue ducktape.
Considering being only in my early 20's, I lost the "Christmas bug" rather young. Although this will be the first Christmas holiday in 8 years were I won't have been studying for the beloved January exams... so my spirit may be rekindled this year. But I do feel - as long with every other holiday - that it has been massively over-commercialised and has, in some way, lost it's traditional touch.
Just checking but it is only early November, isn't it? Then surely that's just a tad too early to start wishing people a Merry Christmas... like they were on the radio this morning!!!
Oh yes. Not long now. For me, I put it out of my mind until after thanksgiving. My husband is American, so It's all orange and brown until after the 30th. Christmas talk can then commence from the 1st Dec, onwards.
Christmas no longer interests me after my sister ruined it for so many years. New years i used to be "oooh lets go drink and not remember what actually happened" now im more happy to stay in and do nothing or as i did last year work and get a nice chunk of over time. Birthday wise i generally take that week off being mid summer I can do lots of things or in the case of this year spend most of it up the hospital with a long term medical issue.
