Craftmanship and epicness in a single package.

I would love to see you keep this monochrome completely.

Good to see this up and running again Wayne. Hope you're doing ok mate..

Seen a few people mention the finish.. Me being a magpie and loving a bit of the shiny... I would love to see it polished to a mirror finish.

Maybe some subtle blue mood lighting.. OMG. I'm starting to sound like Blarte now :duh:

    Sounds good. :D

Probably would look good just with surface finishing, it's an option. :)

:D Much better than a few months back Jeff thanks, think I was close to death & went into my very own Twilight Zone episode, far better now thank goodness, never been that unwell before.

Will be at least polishing the rods, maybe more & light, well the pci io piece should light up good & the frame could take light strips, lighting will be finishing touches though, for now I focus on the case. :)

Triple fan mount begins, so many rods cut, drilled & tapped, I'll try to complete it tomorrow, should be a sweet solid piece that snaps in place by tiny magnets in the ends & in the frame, hopefully they'll be strong enough to hold it firm. :)

Sorry to hear about the health issues. I can relate. I'm still dealing, and apparently will be dealing for the rest of my life with issues caused by my car accident 2 1/2yrs ago. I've just recently started doing some modding again. Glad to see you are picking this up again. This case is just a piece of too much awesomeness to lie dormant.

Good to hear you are modding again mate, I'll keep an eye out for a voigts project. :D

Just test fitted the triple fan & I don't like it so will stick with the noctua fans, the wire clips won on easy maintanance, took a picture of it installed though.

Think I'll wind back down to do case mods in the future, everything except for asthetics is already done & that really has appeal to me now.

I've put it to use so maybe I'll come back to spruce it up a bit some time, maybe not, depends if I feel like it but for now I'm just using it.

I'll take a few shots of it as soon as I can.

You know what, I completely agree here. This is one of the few aluminium cases that would genuinely look really good polished up. The polishing would help to soften the large number of edges and IMO would really complement the window design and colouring. Up to you of course though, would be a hefty amount of extra work for sure.

Nope. Waynio's been hit by the burnout enough. No polishing. I'd rather he started a new project than disappear for 2 years sanding.

Did I hear that right? -You are using it now?
Crud. That means we'll never get final pics. :hehe:

Thanks Maki & cheaps, :D Would take forever to polish it, I'd probably lose my mind & mash it off the wall.

I'll likely be wanting to finish it off properly this year still but for now I'm in relax mode, cable work went better than expected but it's still not to a high standard, stock cables but at least they are all black so doesn't look bad. :D

Glad I did the half pipes, makes it seem smaller. :)

So I've put it to use.

I'm going into hybernation mode for a year while I save up for better tools & grow new skills. :D

I'll possibly post mini projects in the modding section as I grow more.

    Photoshoot still to follow. ;)

You know what mate, don't even think about mini projects. Just switch off altogether and chill out. Go drink to much beer and chase women. Get your head somewhere else. When the urge to mod comes back it will do it all by itself, you can't force it..

Gone mini-ITX all the way now.

Upgraded the HTPC to a z97 mobo with i3 4370 3.8ghz dual core 4 threads, far snappier than the AMD dual core 1.5ghz I had.

    And

I sold the 2nd GTX 770 figuring it was a waste of electric for a smidge of extra eye candy so went mini-ITX for the gaming rig since the onboard audio was excellent on the HTPC.

Specs going into this one are.
    Corsair AX860i
    Gigabyte GA-Z97N-GAMING-5, I was that impressed with it I bought a 2nd one. :D
    i5-4690K @4.3ghz
    Noctua NH-D14
    8GB DDR3
    4GB GTX 770
    256GB SSD
    1TB HDD

So with the mini-ITX spec I designed & made a new case more suited.

And I'm calling it, Cubeydoodar. :p

The mesh will have to wait but what you see here took 2 good sessions, I loosely based the internal layout on a Lian Li case I like, supports 300mm GPU & 170mm CPU cooler, 1 HDD, 1 SSD, ATX PSU, was thinking back to basics on this one.

I did the panel edges bevelled like on the NUC project for nice sharp edges & used 10x 10mm nut blocks.

I'll post again when it's complete.

And yes, this means the ATX case isn't going to be used & this is probably the messiest project log ever.:p

"Finished! To the closet with you!" :hehe:
New rig looks good. It's not as fun, but you are definitely developing a style of your own.

i like how you just flip on a whim and just make a new case from scratch - like it's nothing!
    i mean, that's just... wow!

    :) Thanks

 I know, 2 years ago nearly though, mini-ITX all the way for me now. :D
Was refreshing to make a case so quickly & it's pretty nice. :)

Tools check, spare materials check, let's do it. :dremel:
My quickest project so far. :)

It can go to rest now...

    Unless I... :hehe::p

The 4 HDD's, can't hear them at all so the HDD slide in trays mixed with the acrylic slots really eliminated any vibes, HDD vibes are one of my hates in a system so I like it, nice near silent system & a lot speedier too with the intel i3. :)

    Nice 2 day modathon. :D

    Update on the new case.

Added mesh, a window, USB 3 ports & a vandal switch, also painted the front & back panels a metallic graphite grey.

And it's now good to use so see you when I feel like making a much lower profile HTPC or decide to make a new case for the ps4. :)
