hi guys, looking at buying my first ssd drive for my i5 computer. I have the msi p55-gd65 motherboard so i believe I need a sata 2 drive? not looking at spending more than £150. the ssd will just be used for windows 7 boot up. thanks
A sata 3 drive wil work plenty fine, just be limited by the motherboards controller. In real world it will make no odds, will still be a super upgrade. Any modern drive should be fine, Crucials have pretty good rep but everyone will have their fave brands. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-036-CR&groupid=701&catid=2104&subcat=2394
I'm hardly the most technically minded here, But I would suggest looking at the Samsung EVO 840. I just replaced my HD with one, and I'm really pleased with it. Makes a big difference (and I went from an SSD to this new one)
As mrbungle said. Cheaper at £76.13 with free delivery from ebuyer though... http://www.ebuyer.com/644023-crucia...nch-7mm-with-9-5mm-adapter-ssd-ct256mx100ssd1
thanks guys will get one ordered tonight as for setting it up Does anyone have any tips? I was going to copy my files to an external drive then format the Hardrive then install the ssd then install windows then just copy my old files onto my old hardrive
Yeah - Nice drive those, and a good price from OCUK, scan also have them at that price excl postage so not sure who you'd rather buy from? Sent from my Nexus 5
Be aware though that the 840 evo has a bug that will slow it down over time as old data adds up . You will need to download from the samsung website a tool to repair this issue .
Amazon, actually. Fares is right: it needs a firmware upgrade to remove the bug. The software to fix it is easy to use and very effective.
Dang it, I saw this on hotukdeals but went straight to pcpartpicker to find best price lol Nice spot Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
