Bit sore today, I've really lost the passion for riding at the moment, but I made myself go out yesterday and I managed 29.9mile, my thighs are not enjoying it.

    Oh dear!

Nothing worse than waiting! least its only about a month off though.

I got bored earlier so went off into the garage in search of something to do, came out with a set of Tektro IO disc brake callipers and levers. Been meaning to fit then to the trainer bike for less hassle. Pulled them out and theres a couple of scuffs on them that got me thinking. Now I have a half sanded set of levers sat in the kitchen and in debating what colour to spray them. :dremel:

Ordered 2 of these today Carbon Bottle Cages half price at £9.99 from planet-x for new few hours

and one of these 12-30 tooth Ultegra 6700 as i'm planning on a very hilly charity ride and will need some serious low range during training and event itself.

Also put tyres and wheels on bike and popped the headset in the frame to offer up the forks - then realised that the SAB frame i got from Planet-X is almost certain to be a re-badged Aluminium superlight from several years back as the angles and tube profiles are the same

I have been considering making a SAB myself, but not sure what I'd need it for as really it will end up being nearly as good as my Allez.

Got any pics yet? How are you spec'ing it? All Ultegra?

Just finished a new Prototype light, inspired by another light of equal awesomeness, except this one is generating just over 7,000 lumens run at 3a & 6v per LED, not sure what its throwing out the front but it hurts to look near it & it lights up a fair chunk of forest, the housing is doing a good job at dissipating the 18w of heat the LEDs create as well.

Need a production name for my lights how's "Superbrite" sound ?

Either Ultegra 6700 or a mish-mash of older dura-ace 7800/ultegra if i can source NOS, basically want something I can build from to give a quality, long lasting bike. 10 speed stuff is becoming harder to source but i'm kinda stuck having already bought some 10 speed R501 wheels and the ultegra cassette.

Finishing kit i'm yet to decide on - been looking at the pro LT stuff that's decently priced, but Easton/Ritchey have caught my eye. Cables will be Jagwire as they work extremely well on my hardtail, bar tape will be whatever looks thick and durable enough in the colour I need.

As with all good projects it has a name.....

    Christian .......

Because it'll be 50 shades of grey when it's finished :lol:

I thought that the 10 speed and 11 speed cassettes are the same size? Its only the 9 speed that is thinner?

I've been up and down the internet and not managed to find anything that says an 11 speed cassette will fit onto an R501 10 speed freewheel - couple of articles declaring that if you re-dish 10 speed wheels you can put the cassette on but will only get a few threads of the lock ring into the freewheel and then it'll rip itself to shreds.

I'm not fussed by 11 speed anyhow, 10 is a step-up from 9 and where i live with hills it'll be a compact chainset and the wide range cassette to make sure i get up them by spinning a nice easy gear - saves the hassle of having a triple as well and sourcing all the parts for that!

Should be RAL 4007, colour name is Dormant Purple, needs a clear coat PC over the top though to get the finish.

Some more parts replaced on my bike. I've realised that only the rear wheel, brakes and handlebars are from the original bike.

Should have just bought a new one.....

(Yes I did get that new 9 speed deore crank)

@rev - no but it sounds brilliant.
