i have formatted a ctx notepad the other day and on loading the 98 startup disk it comes up with error message "no cd-rom drives found"(mscd001 file)...it load all the others fine i have the dos drivers for the cd-rom but at the end of installation of these drivers it says "cannot find directory for mscdex.exe" Can anyone point me in the right direction....ive been at it for 2 solid days and im begonning to pull me hair out.. thanks in advance...quakeboots
update..lol lo m8...... had tried bootdisk.com previously with no luck.. thanks for bart link..good site....created cdrom boot there....that didnt resolve prob...still looking for mscd001 file after startup disk is booted.. im just wandering if its the cd-rom itself is at fault...not 100 percent sure though.... forgot to say..not sure if it makes any difference...but there is no os system on ths comp atm...as i had formatted....which brings me to my next question i have a external cd-rom which has usb connection(remembering i have no os system)......all i need to do is the computer to recognise any cd-rom player in its current state so i can get windows back on........help..getting desperate now... quakeboots
