I opted for SSD to boot Windows 7 and a few games. I was so impressed that I got another SSD, but after booting up, I cannot see the new SSD, even though the device manager can see it and tells me it's working fine. Both SSDs are Intel 240GB. Any help would be appreciated!
You need to initialise the drive by the sounds of it. Go to My Computer, right click and click on Manage. You'll have the "Disk Management" option on the left, where it will show you the secondary drive. Right click and make a new volume, do not mark the partition as active, whatever you do. You won't be able to boot again.
It needs formatting! Win + R to open the Windows Run dialog box Enter "diskmgmt.msc" without the quotes and press return Find your new SSD in the box that appears: Right Click to format, and assign a drive letter TSB Edit: Beaten to the punch with a clearer explanation!
Not sure on how this works as it's been a long time since I bought a new hard drive, but have you formatted it? I assume they display in device manager if it's unformatted , but I honestly can't remember. Secondly, you will also need to assign it a drive letter if you haven't: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/change-add-remove-drive-letter#1TC=windows-7 Edit: Double beaten to the punch, but oh well!
You guys are awesome Thank you guys so much! I've already fixed the problem with your help, too. You guys are so awesome!
