   Yep animals have a six sense about these things.
   
   I've got 3 dogs and they know when we are upset/ill, they don't like leaving your side. Even our rabbits know when we are ill lol

   If we aren't feeling well our Golden Retriever has some weird 6th sense. She will not leave either mine or my wifes side if we are sick or injured.
