How are the quattro's for a bit of gaming?

Will fill the void in that Z1 a treat :)

They are just like their GeForce equivalent, just more expensive. This specific quadro is an MXM one, it's based on mobile tech.

Their bang for buck is horrific for gaming - this is comparable to a GTX770M or thereabouts.

They're not just more expensive, in certain applications performance can be ten-fold what you would get from a consumer card with comparable hardware and there's support for 30-bit colour output - all down to the drivers as opposed to the hardware itself though.

I know, I often posted about Quadros here and I have a degree in 3D modeling/animation in addition to my degree in computer science. I was only replying to the question :

.... so, for gaming, they are just like their Geforce counterparts but more expensive.

For CAD, it depends on the drivers, the software and the use-case. Sometimes a Quadro is better, sometimes a Firepro is better, sometimes a user grade GPU is better ... it all depends on what you do with your CAD. There're many great comparison on the Internet, that I posted a dozen of time here :).

No argument there! I do wonder whether like for like hardware would even be a little bit slower given that the drivers aren't built with gaming performance in mind.

Exactly, maybe the performance drivers could help there, but often the Quadro have slightly lower clock rates.

I love these huge mouse mats. They are great for dampening keyboard sound and as a background for macro-photography. :p

It was a Cooler Master Benelux thing. So only 130 people or so entered. A 0.769% chance of winning is pretty good compared to most lotteries.
Won a pair of Han Wag boots the same way... and a Philips toothbrush. :D

It's essentially no use entering the big and long-lasting contests with thousands of people. Especially if you have to guess how many enter before the deadline. Just get on the smaller, quick contests. Enter and forget about them after.

Just follow your favourite brands on facebook and be surprised at what comes up if you pay attention. :thumb:

Did this a couple years back for a game spot competition just before Christmas googled the answer... So I buy a flat screen for Christmas just after receive a phone call bla bla you've won this bla bla me thinking it's just another scam sounding so depressed on the phone... a day later a van turns up with a flat screen, limited edition darksiders XBox which I later sold for £2300 to some guy in a castle in France... And lots of other swag... I probably sounded like the biggest entitled ungrateful person ever so missed being on their radio show!

Nothing since though, but I can't moan

It's a custom keyboard by a Korean guy called Duck0113. It is called the Orion TKL. Kind of limited edition so chances of getting your hands on one are slim to very expensive. ;)
