I've been reading a bit up on LED's and such, but I still cant decide if this is right. If I use a 5 volt LED, and hook it up directly to my 5 volt (red i believe wire), then I dont need any resistors? Regardless of amps/watts?

a resistor is to limit the current therefore u should use one to limit the current you can put the LED in anyway and see what happens though if it gets hot i think you should put in a resistor

Sure you think 5v is the red wire?

    Hint hint.

    Thanks.

God luck with the LED's aswell, just make sure you don't take me seriosuly/get the wrong LED and wonder why it's not working.

Are you sure its forward voltage is 5V? I've never seen a true 5V LED (except those with a built in resistor). I know many people have made the mistake of reading the specs incorrectly and reading the reverse voltage as 5V.

Even if it is a 5V LED, you should really put a low resistance resistor in there as protection just in case the 5V supply momentarily peaks higher than 5V. You won't notice any difference in brightness, so put a 10 ohm resistor in there as some form of insurance.

Im trying to do the light your Molex plugs mod, and I thought it would be cleaner if I used a 5volt LED, that way i dont need a resistor just hanging out there.

you could just make the connections on the resistor very small, and if its placed right you probably will not notice it
