As the title says the laptop won't switch on, the blue light comes near the jack and the charging light at the front, however when the power button is pressed it won't switch on. I've already tried taking battery out and holding the power button for around 30 seconds then trying it but no joy, i'm guessing it will need a new power board? what do you think?
Could be a faulty power button or the ribbon from the switch or loose, not concrete just a suggestion. I have had 2 of these where they would not start up because the CPU fan was clogged up with dust.
thanks, reseating the ram ive tried but hasn't worked, wouldn't a power button replacement solve the button, or ribbon problem
It could also be a dodgy AC adapter, might be worth trying a different one before stripping the machine down.
I've had a look at power boards on ebay but some of them look a bit different eve though they all say hp g7000 http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=g7000+power+board&_sop=15
ok thanks, is there one on the laptop aswell or do i need to strip and get to the power board and find the number on the power board then order one of the same number edit im looking at the back of it now and under the s/n there is p/n so i assume thats the part number
also, should i get one of these to test the power supply? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Digital-Mul...F8&qid=1430863448&sr=1-14&keywords=multimeter is this multimeter even any good though? or should i buy a new original hp power supply?
Should be ok for testing low voltage sources at that price not bad. Also it as a continuity checker so switches can be tested. Although if the led light is showing the adaptor is probably ok.
Yep the hp forums. If no look with the switch/power pcb, I have an intel T2310 it is 1.46ghz dual core free sent by slow post for test.
thanks for the replies, I haven't got round to replacing the power board just yet though i will be soon hopefully
