As the title says the laptop won't switch on, the blue light comes near the jack and the charging light at the front, however when the power button is pressed it won't switch on.

I've already tried taking battery out and holding the power button for around 30 seconds then trying it but no joy, i'm guessing it will need a new power board? what do you think?

Could be a faulty power button or the ribbon from the switch or loose, not concrete just a suggestion. I have had 2 of these where they would not start up because the CPU fan was clogged up with dust.

It could also be a dodgy AC adapter, might be worth trying a different one before stripping the machine down.

It should have a HP spares number label on it, for example "367982-001".

HP have live support that can chat them. You can ask them for solution on your hp laptop problem.

Should be ok for testing low voltage sources at that price not bad. Also it as a continuity checker so switches can be tested. Although if the led light is showing the adaptor is probably ok.
